News: Wagner closed with a 3-under 69 Sunday at the Shell Houston Open, closing with a clutch birdie to enter a playoff with Jordan Spieth and J.B. Holmes, but eventually losing to Holmes by three-putting the second playoff hole.
Impact: Wagner needed to win this week to punch the last ticket to next week's Masters but lipped out a 6-foot putt to remain in the playoff. Wagner won the 2008 Shell Houston Open as his first PGA Tour victory which was likely a slice of inspiration for the veteran but it was not to be this week. The great finish was just Wagner's second top-20 of the year but hopefully it will get him back on track to increase that count.
