There wasn't much hype for WWE Backlash given the short turnaround from SummerSlam and the relatively thin match card, but the SmackDown roster delivered an excellent pay-per-view that featured four title matches - including a controversial ending to the WWE World Championship match. Here are the full results from Sunday night.
Kickoff show: Baron Corbin defeats Apollo Crews
Daniel Bryan announced a last-minute match between Corbin and Crews at the beginning of the preshow, and the Lone Wolf prevailed after hitting the End Of Days.
Becky Lynch wins the six-pack challenge for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship
Lynch became the first ever SmackDown Women’s Champion by making Carmella tap out at the end of a solid six-woman elimination match.
The Usos defeat The Hype Bros in the tag tournament semifinals
The Usos continued their refreshing heel turn by taking out Zack Ryder’s leg to move on to the title match later in the show.
The Miz retains his Intercontinental Championship against Dolph Ziggler
The Miz and Dolph Ziggler delivered a phenomenal wrestling match with ended with Maryse spraying a substance in Ziggler’s face while the referee wasn’t looking, temporarily blinding him and allowing her husband to secure the win.
Bray Wyatt defeats Randy Orton
Wyatt attacked Orton early in the show, and it was announced that Orton was not medically cleared to compete. The referee simply counted to ten to make Wyatt’s win official.
Kane defeats Bray Wyatt
Orton eventually made an entrance and hit an RKO on Wyatt, handing his replacement a victory.
Heath Slater and Rhyno defeat the Usos to win the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship
Slater earned himself a full-time SmackDown contract by winning the tag tournament with Rhyno, and stated in a post-match interview that he’d celebrate by buying a doublewide for all of his kids.
AJ Styles defeats Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Championship
AJ Styles delivered yet another epic match - but to win the title he hit Ambrose with a low blow while the referee was recovering from an accidental bump into a Styles Clash.
