Rafael dos Anjos says Conor McGregor 'would be dead' if they fought

Rafael dos Anjos never liked Conor McGregor's chances if they fought and he's certainly not backing down from that opinion now.

The former lightweight champion took aim at McGregor following the Irishman's comments directed at him during the UFC 202 pre-fight conference call last week.

McGregor emphatically stated that if the former lightweight champion hadn't gotten injured ahead of their scheduled fight at UFC 196 that he would have "KO'd Rafael dos Anjos stiff."

Well, dos Anjos fired back via Twitter and made it clear that McGregor was the lucky one to have avoided their fight back in March and not the other way around.

"If you had fought me you wouldn't be two division champ -- you would be dead," dos Anjos wrote. "Look what a out of shape Diaz did to you."

When dos Anjos dropped out of the fight due to a broken foot it was Nate Diaz who stepped up to replace him and then beat McGregor with a second-round rear naked choke back in March.

Unfortunately, dos Anjos suffered a similar setback when he finally returned from injury in July, geting stung by a first-round TKO courtesy of new lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.

Considering the heat between McGregor and dos Anjos, it certainly appears like these two might meet at some point down the road -- whether a title is on the line or not.
