Conor McGregor could earn Dustin Poirier fight with win over Cole Miller

Conor McGregor could be going through the American Top Team gauntlet.
The Irish budding superstar is booked to fight Cole Miller in the main event of UFC Fight Night Dublin on July 19. If he wins impressively and appears to deserve a step up in competition, the UFC could put him up against Miller's teammate Dustin Poirier next, UFC Tonight's Ariel Helwani reports.
Poirier is being held on the shelf until that fight is complete. McGregor and Miller have traded serious verbal barbs, most notably on "The MMA Hour," and McGregor has pulled Poirier into the mix, nicknaming him "Peahead."
Currently, Poirier is ranked No. 6 among featherweight contenders in the official UFC rankings. McGregor is No. 13 and coming off surgery to repair a torn ACL. Miller is not ranked at all, which has been another subject of McGregor's rants.
If Miller wins, he obviously will not get Poirier afterward since they're teammates. The UFC will find him another opponent. But if McGregor is victorious, it very well could be Poirier.
If he wins that one, too, does that mean he'll face Nik Lentz, another ranked ATT 145-pounder (No. 9)?
