Avalanche forward Matt Duchene was in a bit of good news, bad news situation on Tuesday night in Washington. The good news? He almost stuck the landing on a sweet front flip during the Avs' game against the Caps, and front flips on hockey skates are awesome.
The bad news? Well, the flip came because he got absolutely crushed by a hip check courtesy of Dmitry Orlov.
Beautiful, clean hip checks seem to be a dying art form in today's NHL, but the Capitals defenseman caught Duchene with a good one early in the first period on Tuesday night, sending him head over heels immediately after a zone entry.
Fortunately, Duchene seemed to be okay after the hit.
