Rockets trade Michael Beasley to the Bucks for Tyler Ennis

The Bucks have traded guard Tyler Ennis to the Rockets for forward Michael Beasley, the team announced Thursday.

Beasley is expected to add some scoring in the absence of forward Khris Middleton, Milwaukee's leading scorer last season, who suffered a hamstring injury on Wednesday that is expected to sideline him for the next six months.

“We’re excited to add a player with Michael’s skill set to our team,” Bucks GM John Hammond said. “He’s someone that we’ve kept our eye on the last few seasons and we’re looking forward to watching him compete throughout training camp and the season.”

Beasley, 27, was the second overall pick in the 2008 draft, but a lack of focus and a series of troubles off the court prevented him from playing at a high level consistently. He played in China for the bulk of last season, and put up some unbelievable numbers before getting a shot at an NBA return with the Rockets. Beasley averaged 12.8 points and 4.9 rebounds in 20 regular season games.

Ennis was selected out of Syracuse with the 18th pick in the 2014 draft by the Suns, but was traded to Milwaukee in the middle of his rookie season as part of the three-team deal that sent Brandon Knight to Phoenix. He averaged 4.5 points and 2.1 assists in 14.2 minutes last season, starting in seven of his 46 appearances.
