Report: Andrew Bogut expected to join Cavaliers after his buyout from 76ers

The Cleveland Cavaliers could be getting a boost to their interior defense soon. ESPN reported Sunday that Andrew Bogut is expected to join the Cavs once he receives an expected buyout from the 76ers.

Bogut was traded from the Mavericks to the 76ers before Thursday’s trade deadline, but Philly reportedly wants to buy out the oft-injured big man, making him a free agent.

The 32-year-old center is probably best remembered for helping to anchor the Warriors’ frontcourt defense during their two runs to the Finals – both against the Cavs. But Bogut suffered a knee injury in Game 5 of last year’s Finals when the Cavs became the first team in Finals history to erase a 3-1 series lead.

The Warriors traded Bogut in the summer to Dallas to create salary cap space to sign Kevin Durant.

The Cavs' frontcourt has lacked some size this season. Tristan Thompson is undersized at center and Kevin Love, who is recovering from a knee injury, doesn’t provide much of an interior presence on defense.
