Pelicans, Kings had to replay the end of the second quarter after halftime
An error by game officials led to an unusual situation in Sacramento on Tuesday, where the Pelicans and Kings were forced to replay the final 18.9 seconds of the second quarter after the halftime break.
A foul by Solomon Hill on DeMarcus Cousins should have resulted in two free throws, but the officials had miscounted the number of Pelicans team fouls. The Kings originally led 51-48 at the break, but after two points by E'Twaun Moore were taken off the board and Cousins made the two free throws, the new score entering the third quarter was 53-46.
"That is the rule," Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry said, via ESPN. "They didn't know they were in the bonus, they went back and replayed it. It wasn't that big a deal."
New Orleans never led, and lost by a final of 102-94 to fall to 0-8 on the season.
