David Lee agrees to a 2-year deal with the Spurs

David Lee has agreed to a two-year deal with the San Antonio Spurs, his agent Mark Bartelstein confirmed to ESPN. Lee will earn $3.2 million, and the second season is a player option.

"We've been talking to the Spurs for quite a while," Bartelstein said. "There's a number of places he could have gone and done better economically, but Pop and R.C. [coach Gregg Popovich and general manager R.C. Buford] worked hard to let David know how valuable they thought he could be to their team."

If Lee is indeed wanted in San Antonio, it will be the first time in a long time that's the case. He fell out of the rotation with the Warriors, but remained a good teammate and strong locker room presence during the team's run to a title in 2015. He found himself in a similar situation with the Celtics last season, as Boston opted to play its young players while Lee sat on the bench.

Lee played well in Dallas near the end of last season after agreeing to a buyout of his contract with the Celtics. The 33-year-old two-time All-Star averaged 8.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in 17.3 minutes per game, while shooting a career-best 63.6 percent in 25 appearances.
