Darrell Wallace Jr. pays price after battling flu for XFINITY finish

It was a great finish for Darrell Wallace Jr. in Saturday's XFINITY Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

But Wallace, who piloted the No. 6 Roush Fenway Racing Ford to a sixth-place finish despite battling the flu, paid a heavy price for it.

Shortly after the race, Wallace took to social media to share with his fans just how much of a price. He tweeted a photo of himself from the infield care center after getting three IVs to replace lost fluids in his body.

He then added a couple more comments, saying he was still having trouble breathing normally nearly three hours after the checkered flag flew in the Boyd Gaming 300.

Hopefully Wallace will be fine after more fluids and some rest -- and hopefully he won't get a slap on the wrist from NASCAR like Dale Earnhardt Jr. did after tweeting a photo of Alex Bowman getting an IV in the infield care center after the Hollywood Casino 400 Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway last November.

Wallace has a ready-made excuse if he stands accused of violating NASCAR post-race protocol. He clearly wasn't quite himself. Check out his post-race tweets.
