Axalta expands partnership with JR Motorsports, William Byron

JR Motorsports announced Wednesday that Axalta Coating Systems will sponsor William Byron in the XFINITY Series for 15 races each of the next two seasons.

The multi-year agreement debuts on Byron's No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro at Phoenix Raceway on March 18.

“Axalta is one of the longest-standing partners we have at JR Motorsports,” said Kelley Earnhardt Miller, general manager of JR Motorsports. “They’ve been strong supporters of our programs on multiple levels, and are always proactively looking at ways to maximize their involvement. I’m proud to see them on board with William for the next two years.”

Axalta has been connected with JR Motorsports affiliate Hendrick Motorsports since 1992 and has a close business-to-business relationship with Hendrick Automotive Group, Rick Hendrick's privately held car dealership.

Along with the 15 XFINITY Series races with William Byron, Axalta previously announced a 13-race partnership with Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.

The announcement gives Byron sponsorship for 32 of 33 XFINITY Series this season with Liberty University filling 17 races as the primary sponsor. Axalta will serve as a prominent associate sponsor for all non-primary races.
