Update: Nicky Hayden died from his injuries on Monday afternoon.

American motorcycle racer Nicky Hayden remains in a critical condition with his clinical picture unchanged four days following his bicycle incident in Italy.

The 2006 MotoGP champion was training on his bicycle on the Rimini coast in Italy when he was struck by a car. The 35-year-old was treated on the scene with life-threatening injuries before being taken to a local hospital. Hayden was then later transported to the Bufalini Hospital, where it was revealed that he had suffered severe brain damage.

Hayden’s fiancé Jackie, brother Tommy and mother Rose are by his side. Many racing drivers from across the world have taken to social media and are racing with decals on their car to show their support for Nicky Hayden.
