Former F1 and NASCAR driver Scott Speed will make his Formula E debut at the Miami ePrix next weekend.
Speed is being drafted in to replace Marco Andretti for the event and will be teamed up with Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne. The California native is the only American to race in Formula One in the past 20 years, and gained experience behind the wheel of the Spark-Renault SRT_01E during last year’s Donington tests.
"It’s been so long since I raced an open-wheel car, I feel like I am getting ready for the first day of school,” Speed told FIAFormulaE.com. “So much excitement! Having this opportunity with Andretti is amazing. It’s super cool to be able to race so many different types of cars within the team. I am anxious to get to Miami, and I am up for the challenge."
The Miami ePrix will air LIVE on FOX Sports 2 Saturday, March 14 at 3:30 p.m. ET, with LIVE streaming on the FOX Sports GO app.
