Every crash this week during Indy 500 practice

Jack Harvey, Josef Newgarden, Spencer Pigot and Zach Veach have all collected the wall during practice this week in preparation for next Sunday’s Indianapolis 500.

All drivers were checked and released from the infield care center.

Harvey was the first to meet the wall during Monday’s practice session at the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway when he had a low-speed collision in Turn 2. Harvey was on his out lap and reported that his No. 50 Andretti Autosport Honda just didn’t want to turn.

Practice was then incident-free until Thursday, when the biggest hit of the week took place as Josef Newgarden’s No. 2 Team Penske Chevrolet spun exiting Turn 1 and slammed the outside wall. Newgarden then slide back across the track and then back up into the Turn 2 wall before making a second impact with the wall. Fortunately, he was OK.

The third crash of the week took place on Friday just before Happy Hour, as Spencer Pigot’s No. 11 Juncos Racing Chevrolet slammed the wall in Turn 2. Pigot was OK but reported that he wasn’t really sure how the car had snapped around on him after it had been performing well to that point.

Then during Happy Hour, Zach Veach became the fourth driver of the week to wreck when he overcorrected the car after a slide in Turn 1 and hit the wall. His car continued into Turn 2 where he made a second impact in his No. 40 A.J. Foyt Enterprises Chevrolet.
