Vin Scully provided play-by-play for Jimmy Kimmel's softball home run

Fresh off his 67th and final season as play-by-play man for the Dodgers, Vin Scully stopped by "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Thursday to discuss retirement, baseball and things of that nature.

During his appearance, Kimmel asked Scully if he would be willing to provide commentary for the home run that he hit back in the 2004 Celebrity Softball Game during the MLB All-Star festivities in Houston. Scully obliged, even providing a monologue introduction for the highlight, and it -- like everything Vin Scully does -- was wonderful.

The grin on Kimmel's face following the play-by-play leads us to believe that hearing Scully call one of his highlights was somewhat of a dream come true. It's hard to fault him, as Scully is one of the most legendary broadcasters in all of sports.

After nearly seven straight decades in the booth, it's going to be strange not hearing Scully call actual highlights next season. Maybe he can keep himself busy in retirement by starting a YouTube channel and dubbing over classic highlight clips. I'd watch that.
