Noren takes lead at Castello Masters

Alexander Noren of Sweden shot an 8-under 63 to take the second round clubhouse lead at 10 under at the Castello Masters on Friday.

Noren says he ”kept fading it all day and holed a lot of putts” as he took a two-shot lead over overnight leader Ross McGowan of England and Gary Orr of Scotland.

McGowan recovered from bogeys on the second and third holes to card a 70, backing up his opening-day 64 to lie 8 under, while Orr shot his second successive 67.

Sergio Garcia, playing at his hometown course, resumed on 4 under, alongside defending champion Matteo Manassero, who started the afternoon 2 under.

Portugal Masters champion Tom Lewis was due to play with Garcia and Manassero but pulled out earlier in the day with a virus.
