Much like the first base group, there is a lot of power available at third. If you’re like me and haven’t paid a ton of attention to the Colorado Rockies the past couple years you might not be up on Nolan Arenado. Note to fantasy players: it’s time to get familiar. Arenado has solidified himself as the best offensive third baseman in baseball with back-to-back 40+ HR, 130+ RBI seasons. Unreal.
At age 37, Adrian Beltre continued to show why he may end up in Cooperstown someday. Will he hit 32 out of the park again? Probably not, but he’s a good player on a really good team. He should remain a top tier third baseman until he proves otherwise.
I think it will be interesting to see if Pablo Sandoval can bolster an already tough lineup in Boston. This spring has been encouraging as he’s batted .333 with an OPS of .965 after missing most of 2016 for the Sox. Could a bounce back season be in play? It certainly can’t get any worse.
