Tennessee’s Danny O’Brien reinstated after 2-game suspension

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Tennessee defensive tackle Danny O’Brien has been reinstated after serving a two-game suspension for what Volunteers coach Butch Jones described as a violation of team rules and policies.

Jones said Monday that O’Brien still must earn his way back into a spot on the travel roster and onto the field and added that the junior ”understands the parameters and guidelines.”

Tennessee (2-1, 0-0 SEC) plays at Florida (3-0, 1-0) on Saturday.

O’Brien’s suspension was announced Sept. 9. He missed Tennessee’s 31-24 overtime loss to Oklahoma and a 55-10 victory over Western Carolina.

O’Brien, who is from Flint, Michigan, had two tackles and a sack in a season-opening 59-30 triumph over Bowling Green before his suspension. O’Brien started 11 games last season and had 21 tackles, including 4 1/2 for loss.
