Penn State defensive tackle Anthony Zettel played for the Nittany Lions as they took on San Diego State on Saturday despite the passing of his father on Friday night.

In the 37-21 victory over the Aztecs, Zettel finished with a team-high seven tackles, a fumble recovery, a half-sack and broke up a pass.

The York Daily record reported Zettel’s family — mother, sister, older brother and 5-year-old brother — made the nine-hour drive from Michigan to attend the game.

Terry Anthony Zettel was 46 and died at his home in West Branch, Mich., following a battle with cancer.

Per an obituary published at ObitMichigan.com, a memorial service is planned for Sunday.
