Colorado mocks Michigan by releasing a ludicrous fake depth chart

Football is a sport of gamesmanship and no one takes it to the extreme quite like Jim Harbaugh. Whether he’s recruiting, talking to the media or producing his own rap video, everything Harbaugh does has a purpose. Much of it is to get in the heads of other coaches.

One of Harbaugh’s most obvious ploys is his refusal to release a depth chart prior to games. Again, the act is intended to get in the heads of opponents but instead, this week’s opponent Coloardo, decided to flip Harbaugh’s stunt on its head.

On Tuesday, Colorado released a “fictional” depth chart for their game against Michigan. At the top, it simply reads:

Since this week’s opponent, Michigan, does not issue a depth chart, our coaches felt we should refrain from making one public this week as well. So in the interim, we had a little fun…

The “fun” they had was filling the “depth chart” with the names of fictional TV and movie characters as well as notable, non-football players.

For example, the Buffaloes have “Elmer Fudd,” listed at svelte 5-foot-2, 165 lbs. as their starting quarterback. Backing him up is Danny DeVito, who carries both a height (5-foot-3) and weight advantage (200 lbs.) over the man who he may be forced to replace.

At “thin receiver” both Olive Oil (6-foot-2, 95 lbs.) and Manute Bol (7-foot-6, 220 lbs.) are expected to see action, while the fullback position will be manned by the “Hanson Brothers” of “Slap Shot” fame.

On defense, it could be a big day from nose tackle Vito Corleone (not a man you want to mess with) and Austin Powers could bring some heat off the edge. Stewie Griffin is only listed at 1-foot-2 inches and 40 lbs., but can pack the heat at safety.

So yeah, this is a fun little ploy from Colorado.

The question now: What will Michigan do to follow-up? You know this won’t sit well with Harbaugh.
