Alabama OL Alphonse Taylor ‘indefinitely suspended’ from team after DUI arrest

University of Alabama offensive lineman Alphonse Taylor has been "indefinitely suspended" from the team following his DUI arrest, coach Nick Saban announced Monday afternoon.

Taylor, a redshirt senior, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, in addition to leaving the scene of an accident early Sunday morning.

In a statement released by the school, Saban expressed his disappointment in Taylor and said that the team is still looking into the incident:

Taylor, who started 15 games for the Tide last season, was demoted to second string in the spring due to weight and conditioning issues.

Taylor is the third Alabama player to face charges this offseason. Offensive tackle Cam Robinson and safety Hootie Jones were arrested on drug and weapon charges in May, but the charges were later dropped for insufficient evidence. Saban recently told reporters at At SEC Media Days that the two were unlikely to be suspended.
