Report: McCarron OK after foot scare

Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron left Saturday’s scrimmage after his foot was stepped on, according to the Tuscaloosa News.

However, the injury is considered minor. Coach Nick Saban told the newspaper that McCarron should be ready to return to practice Monday.

Before leaving, McCarron was 13 of 21 passing for 267 yards. He threw three touchdowns and an interception.

McCarron, entering his senior season, helped lead the Crimson Tide to a national championship last season when he threw for 2,933 yards and 30 TDs. He had just three interceptions.

Alabama will begin its quest for a third consecutive BCS title when it hosts Virginia Tech on Aug. 31.
