SHEVCHENKO live on FOX and FOX Deportes on Saturday, July 23 (8:00 PM ET). Mike Goldberg (@MFG16) and Joe Rogan (@JoeRogan) call the fights on FOX from the United Center in Chicago, while Victor Davila calls the action in Spanish on FOX Deportes.
The exciting evening features the return of former UFC bantamweight champion and current No. 2-ranked Holly Holm (10-1) facing the rising star and No. 7-ranked Valentina Shevchenko (12-2) in the five-round main event.
“Holly wants that title back,” says FOX Sports analyst and UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping. “But Valentina has 58-2 kickboxing record, so Holly might want to think about wrestling with her.”
Also on the main card, explosive striker and sixth-ranked lightweight Edson Barboza (17-4) meets Gilbert Melendez (22-5) as both try and move up in the stacked lightweight title picture. Hard-hitting heavyweights Francis Ngannou (7-1) and Bojan Mihajlovic (10-3) also collide. In the strawweight division, Chicago native Felice Herrig (10-6) meets rising prospect Kailin Curran (4-2).
The two-hour UFC FIGHT NIGHT PRELIMS on FOX and FOX Deportes begin at 6:00 PM ET. UFC bantamweight veterans No. 12 Frankie Saenz (11-3) and No. 15 Eddie Wineland (21-11-1) battle. The No. 12-ranked featherweight Darren Elkins (20-5) faces crafty finisher Godofredo Pepey (13-3). THE UTLIMATE FIGHTER winner Kamaru Usman (7-1) meets Sambo expert Alexander Yakovlev (23-6-1) in a welterweight duel. Plus, jiu-jitsu black belt Michel Prazeres (19-2) meets late replacement J.C. Cottrell (17-3) in the lightweight division to open the PRELIMS.
