FOX Sports Celebrates BIG EAST Founder Dave Gavitt During Fifth Annual Gavitt Tipoff Games
Early Conference Challenge Between BIG EAST and Big Ten Conferences Features Two Top-25 Matchups
NEW YORK – FOX Sports honors the legacy of Dave Gavitt, founder and first commissioner of the BIG EAST Conference, during the fifth annual Gavitt Tipoff Games. Beginning tonight, seven of the eight inter-conference contests are on FS1, while BTN televises one.
This year’s Gavitt Tipoff Games are highlighted by a pair of top-25 matchups – No. 10 Villanova at No. 16 Ohio State Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 7:00 PM ET on FS1, and No. 3 Michigan State at No. 12 Seton Hall Thursday, Nov. 14, at 8:30 PM ET. Tim Brando and Jim Jackson call the action in Columbus, joined by studio host Mike Hill and analyst Steve Lavin who are live from Value City Arena 30 minutes prior to tipoff and present halftime and postgame coverage. Gus Johnson and Bill Raftery are live from Newark the following night, while Hill and Lavin are also on site at the Prudential Center for live studio coverage.
The Gavitt Tipoff Games begin tonight with DePaul at Iowa at 8:00 PM ET on FS1 with contests each night through Thursday. Throughout the series, FOX Sports shares taped interviews with each of the participating head coaches speaking about the influence Dave Gavitt has had on the sport and their careers.
