FOX Sports Joins the Charlotte Sports Business Fellowship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – FOX Sports today announces it has joined the Charlotte Sports Business Fellowship as part of its continued partnership with nonprofit organization Sports Biz Careers, furthering its efforts to create and advance fighting chances for underserved youth to forge avenues for positive personal development.

The Fellowship is an exclusive nine-month educational program managed by Sports Biz Careers providing fifteen college students firsthand access to internships, professional mentorship and networking opportunities with Charlotte-based sports businesses including 23XI Racing, Bespoke Sports & Entertainment, CAA Icon, Carolina Panthers, Charlotte 49ers Athletics, Charlotte FC, Charlotte Hornets, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Charlotte Sports Foundation, Elevate Sports Ventures, FOX Sports, NASCAR, RFK Racing, Sports Business Journal, and Truist.

On Wednesday, June 28, the 2023 Charlotte Sports Business Fellowship cohort visited FOX Sports Charlotte to learn about careers in the sports media industry including broadcast media, post-production, marketing, engineering and creative services. Steve Craddock, Senior Vice President, Production, Lindsey Mandia, Vice President, Production, and other members of the FOX Sports Charlotte team shared career insights and advice with the Fellows. The cohort participated in on-air simulations with NASCAR Race Hub and Raceday NCTS host Kaitlyn Vincie following a comprehensive guided tour of the FOX Sports Charlotte studios.

FOX Sports partners with Sports Biz Careers to promote inclusion and equity in sports business and increase social capital for underrepresented populations. Throughout the year, FOX Sports hosts virtual and in-person interactive educational opportunities for high school and college students nationwide to discover career pathways in sports media, network and develop professional skills.

FOX Sports and Common Goal USA Host Girls Soccer Festival Ahead of FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™

NEW YORK – FOX Sports, America’ English-language home for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023™, and nonprofit organization Common Goal USA furthered their efforts to use soccer for social change hosting a girls soccer festival in New York City in advance of this summer’s thrilling tournament.

The event celebrated girls’ soccer in the city, bringing together youth from six local nonprofit organizations, and emphasized the importance of mental health and wellness alongside physical fitness. At Socceroof in Long Island City, the young athletes participated in skills clinics and an e-motion mental health training led by the Center for Healing and Justice Through Sport, ending their day with a thrilling indoor soccer tournament.

Joining in on the activities were members of FOX Sports’ preeminent roster of world-class broadcasters including Carli Lloyd, a two-time FIFA Women’s Player of the Year and co-captain of the champion USWNT at the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™, Alexi Lalas, lead studio analyst and former United States Men’s National Team star, Karina LeBlanc, international analyst and five-time FIFA Women’s World Cup™ goalie with Canada, and current General Manager of the Portland Thorns, JP Dellacamera, the network’s veteran play-by-play voice, and reporter Jenny Taft, who will be embedded with the USWNT throughout the tournament as FOX Sports’ trusted insider.

FOX Sports Super Bowl LVII Scholarships Delivered to Boys & Girls Clubs of Arizona’s Youth of the Year Candidates

Arizona – FOX Sports’ efforts to create a lasting, positive impact in Arizona, the host community of Super Bowl LVII, through the Gamechanger Fund are enabling two local youth’s pursuit of higher education. The college scholarships were presented at Boys & Girls Clubs of Arizona’s Youth of the Year Awards Banquet.

The recipients are Boys & Girls Clubs of Arizona’s candidates for Youth of the Year, Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier leadership program celebrating the extraordinary achievements of Club teens. Arizona’s Youth of the Year candidates are shining examples and living proof that great futures start at Boys & Girls Clubs.

Hakima, 2023 Arizona State Youth of the Year, is an open-minded, fearless young woman with a passion for the arts who credits her time at Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson with restoring hope in her future. Hakima plans to attend Howard University to double major in education and humanities.

Camilla, 2023 Arizona State Military Youth of The Year, is a 4.0 student who has been in the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base Youth Program for six years. An accomplished flutist, Camilla plans to attend New York University and double major in music and journalism.

New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA – February 7, 2023 – Fox Corporation (“FOX” or the “Company”) (Nasdaq: FOX, FOXA) today announced charitable commitments totaling over $300,000, in conjunction with its ongoing FOX Forward and FOX Sports Supports corporate social responsibility initiatives, to create a lasting, positive impact in Arizona, the host community of Super Bowl LVII, airing on FOX (Sunday, Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m. ET). These include a commitment to the Pat Tillman Veterans Center (PTVC) to provide scholarship funding and resources for student veterans, as well as the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley to enhance their career development and training programs and Purple Heart Homes through FOX Sports’ Gamechanger Fund.

Through the Company’s FOX Forward initiative, FOX has partnered with The Pat Tillman Veterans Center to support undergraduate and graduate students over the course of five years by providing scholarships and funding for education and mental health resources. The Pat Tillman Veterans Center, which honors Pat Tillman, an Arizona State University (ASU) graduate, pro-football star and U.S. Army veteran who lost his life while serving, is located on the ASU campus adjacent to the state-of-the-art FOX Technology Center, which opened in 2019 and will serve as the broadcasting hub for Super Bowl LVII. As part of the FOX Forward commitment, FOX Technology Center employees will also engage with PTVC student veterans to provide ongoing pathways to employment through skill building workshops, internships and more.

Additionally, FOX Sports’ Gamechanger Fund was established to benefit nonprofit partners in its Super Bowl host cities and further the FOX Sports Supports mission to create and advance fighting chances for underserved youth and our nation’s military heroes. Building on FOX’s companywide efforts, the FOX Sports and FOX Technology Center teams partnered with Purple Heart Homes, an organization whose mission is to improve home safety and accessibility, increase independence and facilitate aging in-place for veterans. The Gamechanger Fund enabled Purple Heart Homes to renovate the home of a U.S. Air Force veteran in need, including a bathroom remodel, new ADA-compliant door and floors, wheelchair accessible kitchen adaptations and the installation of a new wheelchair ramp.

The Gamechanger Fund will also support the creation of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley’s new AZYouthforce West Valley Career Readiness Center, which delivers essential skills training and mentorship to teens to prepare them for internships and permanent jobs. The funding will be used to hire a career advisor and provide necessary technology to support career exploration and training. Additionally, the Gamechanger Fund grants the FOX Sports Super Bowl LVII Scholarship to Arizona’s representative for the annual Boys & Girls Clubs of America Youth of the Year competition. AZYouthforce members will also visit the FOX Sports Super Bowl compound during Super Bowl Week for a behind-the-scenes look at careers in sports media.

FOX Sports’ Gamechanger Fund Impacts U.S. Air Force Veteran

Arizona – As part of FOX Sports’ efforts to leave a positive imprint in Super Bowl host cities through its Gamechanger Fund, FOX Sports teamed with nonprofit partner Purple Heart Homes to complete a home renovation for a local service-connected disabled veteran in need.

The project is FOX Sports’ first in Arizona with Purple Heart Homes’ Phoenix Rising chapter and greatly improves the veteran’s safety, accessibility and independence as a result of the bathroom remodel and kitchen adaptations for ADA-compliancy, transition from carpet to hardwood floors, and ADA-accessible wheelchair ramp installation. Volunteers from FOX Sports and FOX’s Technology Center participated in the completion of the project.

The renovations are part of FOX Sports’ commitment to the Arizona community and legacy of Super Bowl LVII that FOX Sports will leave behind. FOX Sports Supports Veterans’ Transition to Civilian Life

Bessemer City, N.C. – In honor of Veterans Day, FOX Sports teamed with Charlotte-based nonprofit partner Purple Heart Homes to complete a transitional home renovation for local veterans in need.

The idea for the project came from a U.S. Marine Corps veteran in the Charlotte area, Sgt. Ivan “Bud” Strope, who wanted to cultivate a space for veterans experiencing difficult transition from military to civilian life and provide them with the secure environment they need to finally “come home”.

FOX Sports volunteers constructed and installed a new ADA-compliant ramp, repaired railings, replaced gutters and downspouts and completed landscaping.

The new residence will house eight local veterans and is part of the Camp Centurion veteran housing network which provides crucial assistance to servicemen and women reintegrating into the community.

FOX Sports Celebrates Soccer in New York City Ahead of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™

NEW YORK – On Thursday, Oct. 13, FOX Sports teamed with global nonprofit organization Common Goal to celebrate soccer in New York City ahead of the highly anticipated global soccer tournament FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. The impact-driven event – Common Goal Festival New York – welcomed more than 50 local youth from six sports-based youth development organizations.

Young athletes were brought together to participate in skills trainings and personal empowerment clinics. Participating alongside the children were members of FOX Sports’ FIFA World Cup Qatar™ broadcast team, including lead play-by-play announcer John Strong, lead match analyst Stu Holden, lead studio analyst Alexi Lalas, FIFA WORLD CUP TONIGHT lead analyst Maurice Edu, host Rob Stone and reporter Jenny Taft. The event was held at The Ground NYC and culminated in an exhilarating indoor soccer tournament with live commentary and match analysis provided by Strong, Holden and Taft.

“One of the great things about this game is that it unites communities, it brings people together,” Holden said. “It gives you opportunity, inspiration and friends throughout the game at all levels – and that’s what you’re seeing today.”

FOX Sports Inspires the Next Generation of Sports Media Professionals

Charlotte, NC – Local high school students visited the FOX Sports Charlotte studio to learn about careers in sports media through educational programming offered by FOX Sports nonprofit partner Sports Biz Camps.  

FOX Sports partners with Sports Biz Camps to further its mission of creating and advancing fighting chances for underrepresented youth to succeed in the sports media industry and unlock their full professional potential.

The group of students received first-hand training in a simulated on-air environment from FOX NASCAR Race Announcer and Studio Host Adam Alexander and participated in a panel discussion featuring FOX NASCAR Reporter and Studio Host Josh Sims and other FOX Sports employees geared towards career pathways in broadcast production, creative services and digital and social media.

Field of Miracles Game Makes Big League Dreams Come True for Young Iowa Athletes

Dubuque, IA – Hours before the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds faced off in Dyersville for the 2022 MLB at Field of Dreams, young players wearing the teams’ uniforms took to a specially designed field just down the road for a game of their own.

For the second consecutive year, FOX Sports sponsored the Field of Miracles game for the Miracle League of Dubuque, a local non-profit organization providing children in the greater Iowa area living with disabilities the chance to play baseball. MLB-official and customized Cubs and Reds jerseys were donated to the 30 players by FOX Sports, each bearing the players’ names and favorite numbers.

“It is a special day for the players and families the field serves,” said Merle Santjer, Miracle League of Dubuque’s Co-Founder and President. “We are excited to once again partner with FOX Sports to create this opportunity for our athletes.”

Last year, FOX Sports donated more than $13,000 worth of specialized baseball equipment to the league to support its official launch and continued operation in honor of the inaugural MLB at Field of Dreams game. FOX Sports’ backing of the Miracle League of Dubuque furthers its efforts to create fighting chances for all athletes to play and access sports.

Dubuque Mayor Pro Tem David Resnick lead the opening ceremony which included a performance of the national anthem by a local barbershop chorus and official lineup announcements. Players from each of the city’s three high school baseball and softball teams worked as “field angels” during the game helping each athlete with batting, fielding and baserunning alongside several members of the Field of Dreams movie’s original cast of “ghost players”.

FOX Sports Celebrates 100 Days to FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ with New Common Goal Partnership and Community Festival

LOS ANGELES – On Tuesday, Aug. 9, FOX Sports teamed with global nonprofit organization Common Goal and current Common Goal professional football club members Angel City FC and Tigres UANL, to celebrate 100 days to the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ with an exciting and impact-driven community event – Common Goal Festival Los Angeles – that welcomed more than 80 local athletes from six sports-based youth development nonprofit organizations.

Common Goal Festival Los Angeles featured youth athletes participating in skills trainings and personal empowerment clinics alongside FOX Soccer broadcasters Alexi Lalas, Stu Holden, Jenny Taft, Maurice Edu and Rodolfo Landeros. Joining them on the pitch and in the fun were Angel City FC’s Stefany Ferrer Van Ginkel alongside Tigres UANL players Anika Rodríguez, Bianca Sierra and Ammanda Marroquin. The event was held at GOALS Soccer Center in South Gate, California and culminated with a thrilling soccer tournament crowning nonprofit participant America SCORES Los Angeles champion.

FOX Sports’ partnership with Common Goal advances the organization’s mission to use soccer to transform the lives of underserved and underrepresented youth in communities across the country, while utilizing the world’s biggest sporting event to tell the story of soccer for good. The partnership furthers FOX Sports’ efforts through its FOX Sports Supports community impact program to create fighting chances for all athletes to play and access sports. 

“These kind of engagements are so important because they help to move the sport forward and help to create more access, especially for underprivileged kids who might not get those opportunities,” said Edu. 

Additional community events will be held this year in the lead up to the FIFA World Cup™ as part of the FOX Sports and Common Goal partnership.

FOX Sports Celebrates 2022 MLB All-Star Game with Heart of Los Angeles

Los Angeles – In honor of the 2022 MLB All-Star Game on FOX, FOX Sports celebrated members of its local nonprofit partner, Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA), who recently completed its inaugural Broadcasting Program by providing them with an exclusive, behind the scenes look inside the world of sports broadcasting. 

FOX Sports partners with HOLA to create and advance fighting chances for underserved youth in its Los Angeles headquarters community to succeed in the sports media industry and unlock their full professional potential.

The group of high school students met with FOX MLB Studio Analysts Frank Thomas and Dontrelle Willis, FOX MLB Studio Host Kevin Burkhardt, and members of the production team to learn about careers in sports media and broadcast production during a tour of the FOX Sports studios and an exclusive all-access viewing of MLB ON FS1. 

HOLA gives underserved kids an equal chance to succeed through a comprehensive array of after-school academic, arts, athletics, and wellness programs and FOX Sports is proud to support its efforts to educate its students about the world of broadcasting through the new program, which wrapped its first iteration this spring.

As part of its support of the program and commitment to its long-term success, FOX Sports donated essential camera and lighting equipment to HOLA which the students will use as part of the program’s curriculum.

FOX Sports Supports WWII U.S. Army Veteran

Charlotte, N.C. – FOX Sports celebrated the 247th birthday of the United States Army on June 14 by teaming with local nonprofit partner Purple Heart Homes to complete home renovations for a World War II U.S. Army veteran in its local Charlotte community.

Funding from FOX Sports helped Purple Heart Homes complete construction of an ADA-compliant bathroom and roof replacement for Corporal Robert Cochrane (95) whose home was in need of significant structural repair due to water damage stemming from plumbing issues. Volunteers applied the finishing touches to the project, constructing a new set of patio stairs and waist-high garden boxes for Cochrane to resume his lifelong gardening hobby.

FOX Sports Supports NASCAR Clash at the Coliseum Community Day

Los Angeles – NASCAR and FOX Sports teamed with FOX Sports Supports nonprofit partner the LA84 Foundation to further its ALLIANCE: Los Angeles initiative as part of the first ever NASCAR Clash at the Coliseum Community Day.

Local high-school-age students from ALLIANCE: Los Angeles members View Park Preparatory High School, Project Blue, and the Business of Student Success (BOSS) Program were given an exclusive behind the scenes look inside the motorsports and sports media industries.

FOX Sports hosted the students for an in-person viewing of NASCAR RACE HUB LIVE FROM THE COLISEUM and provided an introduction for the group into the world of sports television production. Members of FOX Sports’ NASCAR Clash at the Coliseum team including Jamie Little, NASCAR Pit Reporter and ARCA MENARDS SERIES Play-by-Play Announcer, Steve Craddock, Senior Vice President of Production, and Artie Kempner, Sports Emmy award-winning director, spoke to the students about career opportunities in sports media following their tour of the FOX Sports TV compound.

NASCAR opened the historic Clash at the Coliseum racetrack to the group where they spoke with Jusan Hamilton, Director of Race Operations, about preparing the Coliseum for the first race in its storied history and ended the day with a careers in motorsports panel featuring members of the NASCAR Diversity & Inclusion team.

FOX Sports Supports the 2021 Angel City Games

Los Angeles – The Angel City Games put on by FOX Sports nonprofit partner Angel City Sports showcases a plethora of adaptive sports for athletes looking to learn new skills or improve existing ones. The two-day event unites the community and gives newer athletes and families an accessible and friendly avenue into the Paralympic movement.

More than 10 Paralympic sports were featured this year including wheelchair basketball, wheelchair football, air rifle, and blind soccer, with new additions of rowing, boccia, goalball and judo. Cleatus, the FOX Sports robot, attended the 2021 Angel City Games supporting the adaptive sports movement and FOX Sports Supports’ mission of creating and advancing fighting chances for all athletes to play and access sports.
