WWE Cruiserweight Classic 2016 Semifinals Results: Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Gran Metalik Video Highlights

A look at what happened in the Cruiserweight Classic semifinals match between Zack Sabre Jr. and Gran Metailk.

On Wednesday night, the finale of the inaugural WWE Cruiserweight Classic took place. Two semifinals bouts would occur, with the winners heading to the final. The first one of these saw technical wizard, Zack Sabre Jr. take on high-flyer, Gran Metalik.

Sabre and Metalik have looked impressive throughout the summer, taking down some of the toughest competition in the Cruiserweight Classic. They each had high profiles in the independent wrestling world, and upgraded them with advancing to the finals of this tournament.

We know Metalik is already signing with WWE, as he’ll be part of Raw’s cruiserweight division. Did that make him guaranteed to win? Or would Sabre move onto the finals?

Here’s a look at what happened in this semifinals matchup on Wednesday night.

Here comes Sabre Jr. for this match.

Metalik started red-hot in this match. He had Sabre fleeing, but the Luchador would hit a tope con hilo to get a big reaction, sending the British start off his game.

Sabre worked plenty of his unique holds, which you won’t see anywhere else. He looked to ground Metalik this way.

Things would get chippy, with Sabre and Metalik exchanging blows after being taken down.

This Octopus stretch doesn’t look too pretty, but it was one of many submission moves used in this match.

After countering a move from Sabre, Metalik hit the Metalik Driver for the victory, advancing to the final!

This match tore the house down at Full Sail University. It never slowed down from its frantic pace, and had everyone riled up. The contrasting styles worked perfectly, and put on one of the best matches of the Cruiserweight Classic.

Metalik moves on to face the winner of Kota Ibushi vs. TJ Perkins in the finals.
