Cody Rhodes took part in Day 2 of PWG’s Battle of Los Angeles event, and had a pretty sweet introduction done by his wife, Brandi Rhodes.
In May, Cody Rhodes requested his release from WWE, and got it his wish granted. He couldn’t wrestle for three months, though, due to a 90-day non-compete clause WWE issues for released talents.
Rhodes would make his independent wrestling debut at EVOLVE 66, defeating Zack Sabre Jr. The former WWE Intercontinental Champion went on to compete at EVOLVE 67, and wrestle Kurt Angle at a separate event.

This weekend, Rhodes took his talents to Southern Califnora to take part in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s (PWG) biggest event of the year, the Battle of Los Angeles. This is an annual tournament of the promotion that has taken place since 2005, with the first winner being Chris Bosh.
On Day 2, Rhodes would compete against and defeat former NXT star Sami Callahan. However, before the match began, Rhodes’ wife, former WWE ring announcer Brandi Rhodes, gave him a personal ring intro. It’s something well-worth watching, which honors Dusty Rhodes and takes a shot at the old Stardust character. This was Cody’s last gimmick in WWE before his departure.
Rhodes posted the clip of the intro, which can be seen below.
The Star That Left Them in the Dust will move on to face Sabre Jr. The winner of that match will face whoever comes out of Marty Scurll and Mark Haskins in the semifinals. This takes place on Sunday, with the winner also being announced at the end of the evening.
