Injured WWE superstar Finn Balor is one step closer to returning to Monday Night RAW to reclaim his Universal Championship belt.

On Wednesday, the Demon King returned to the ring during a WWE NXT taping in Florida.

While Balor's appearance itself wasn't that much of a surprise, thanks to head's up tweet from Triple H, no one could have expected what transpired when Balor's music hit during a match between a banged-up Shinsuke Nakamura, NXT Champion Bobby Roode and Andrade "Cien" Almas.

Balor, who has been out of action since suffering a serious shoulder injury in August, told the crowd that he still is not medically cleared to compete. But apparently, that didn't matter and the Demon King didn't miss a beat as he helped Nakamura fight off an overzealous Roode and Almas.

After the show, Balor tweeted about his return to the Gold Circle of NXT, where he spent nearly two years making a name for himself in WWE.

The 35-year-old Balor is expected to return to RAW in the coming weeks and has been advertised to appear at upcoming WWE house shows beginning in early March.
