Laksa, No. 23 USF women roll past Houston Baptist 90-43 (Nov 12, 2017)

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) Kitija Laksa scored 26 points, Maria Jespersen and Laura Ferreira had double-doubles and No. 23 South Florida coasted to a 90-43 win over Houston Baptist on Sunday.

Jespersen had 17 points and 11 rebounds while Ferreira had a career-high 15 rebounds to go with 10 points. Laia Flores had 14 points, eight rebounds, eight steals and five steals for the Bulls (2-0).

Houston Baptist (0-1) hit back-to-back 3-pointers to trail 19-14 after the first quarter. But Jespersen scored six points, Laksa five and Tamara Henshaw and Flores four each as the Bulls used three 7-0 runs to take a 40-18 lead at the break. USF was 9 of 21 from the field and the Huskies 2 of 17 in the quarter.

Laksa had three treys and 11 points as the Bulls had a 21-3 run in the fourth quarter.

South Florida had 23 offensive rebounds for a 31-4 difference in second-chance points and only committed four turnovers.

Sophie Taylor had 15 points for the Huskies, who shot 26 percent and were outrebounded 67-38.
