Baggetts carry McNeese to Southland title

Caitlyn Baggett sank four 3-pointers and scored 21 points, her

twin sister Ashlyn added 14 points and five assists and McNeese

State won the Southland Conference tournament for the second

straight year, beating Stephen F. Austin 60-56 in the championship

game Friday night.

Kendra Wells grabbed 12 rebounds and Markita Hull had 11

rebounds for the Cowgirls (26-7), who will head into the NCAA

tournament on a nine-game winning streak.

Brittney Matthew and Annette Davis scored 12 points apiece and

Ashlee Mells and Porsha Roberts each scored 11 points for Stephen

F. Austin (23-9), which was in the tournament championship game for

the first time since 2007. The Ladyjacks slipped to 15-3 in the

championship match.
