Ogwumike leads Sparks to 95-75 win over Mystics

WASHINGTON (AP) Nneka Ogwumike had 24 points and 14 rebounds, Candace Parker added 18 points and six assists and the Los Angeles Sparks ended a two-game skid with a 95-75 win over the Washington Mystics on Friday night.

Ogwumike was 6 of 7 from the field and 11 of 12 from the free-throw line. Rookie Evgeniia Belyakova added a career-high 12 points and Jantel Lavender scored 11 for the Sparks (21-3).

Essence Carson and Belyakova each hit 3s during an 18-4 run that gave Los Angeles a 29-16 lead with 9 minutes left in the first half and the Sparks led by at least eight the rest of the way.

Emma Meesseman scored 16 points and Tierra Ruffin-Pratt added 10 for the Mystics (9-15), who wore plain black shirts in warm-ups. The same shirts got three teams fined by the WNBA two days ago.

Los Angeles, ranked first in the AP WNBA power poll, shot 55.7 percent (34 of 61) from the field, including 8 of 18 from 3-point range.

The ninth-ranked Mystics have lost seven in a row.
