Badgers hockey salvages 5-all tie versus Ferris State
The Wisconsin men’s hockey squad came back from a late deficit to forge a 5-all tie with Ferris State on Friday night, in Big Rapids, Mich.
Five different players scored for the Badgers (0-2-3), including defenseman Tim Davison with 19 seconds left in regulation.
Wisconsin allowed three unanswered goals in Friday’s third period, but Davison’s extra-attacker goal proved key in this clash, played at Ewigleben Arena. Davison’s tally was his first of the season.
The Badgers fell in an early 1-0 hole, but then scored four times in the second period, including a pair of power-play tallies from Seamus Malone and Jake Linhart to seize a 4-2 lead. It was the second time this year that the Badgers scored multiple power-play goals in a game.
Ferris State eventually scored three times in the third period to take a 5-4 lead with 1:53 to play, before Davison scored his key goal.
After notching 40 saves his last time out against Boston University, Wisconsin freshman Matt Jurusik made 27 stops on Friday night to earn his second tie of the season.
