Badgers fall 5-3, split series with No. 1 Minnesota
One day after handing No. 1 Minnesota its first loss of the season, the No. 12 Wisconsin Badgers fell to the Gophers in the series finale, 5-3.
The Badgers took an early lead, but couldn’t hold on as the Gophers scored three unanswered goals to turn a 2-1 deficit into a lead it never relinquished.
After Minnesota scored just 81 seconds into the game, Sam Stange got the Badgers on the board at 13:41.
Brock Caufield gave Wisconsin the lead midway through the second period, but it was short lived after Minnesota recorded a pair of goals at 14:00 and 17:02.
The Gophers then took advantage of an early power play to take a 4-2 lead in the third.
Cole Caufield scored at 4:12 in the third, but it wasn’t enough as Minnesota extended its lead again with a goal in the final minutes.
Wisconsin goaltender Robbie Beydoun finished with 19 saves.
