Packers sign wide receiver Malik Turner

The Green Bay Packers continue to make moves to bolster their wide receiving corps.

A couple of days after claiming Travis Fulgham off waivers from Detroit, the Packers signed former Seattle wideout Malik Turner.

To make room for Turner on its 80-man roster, Green Bay released safety Frankie Griffin, who played linebacker at Texas State and signed with the Packers as an undrafted free agent in April.

Originally signed as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois in 2018, the 6-foot-2 Turner had 17 catches for 265 yards and a touchdown in 21 games with the Seahawks. He had 15 receptions for 245 yards and a TD in 2019.

In four years at Illinois, Turner finished with 143 receptions for 1,804 yards and 10 TDs. His best season came as a junior in 2016 when he recorded 48 catches for 712 yards and six touchdowns.

Turner had a tryout with the Packers in June 2018 but went unsigned before joining the Seahawks.

Green Bay made one significant addition at wide receiver in the offseason – signing free agent Devin Funchess, who has since opted out of the 2020 season.
