Bucks' Antetokounmpo named All-Star starter for second straight year

For the second straight season, Giannis Antetokounmpo will be in the NBA All-Star game as a starter.

The 23-year-old superstar becomes the first Milwaukee Bucks player to be named an All-Star starter in consecutive years since Marques Johnson in 1979-80. He did it in style, too, beating out 14-time All-Star LeBron James in the Eastern Conference player vote.

Boston's Kyrie Irving, Toronto's DeMar DeRozan and Philadelphia's Joel Embiid were named the other three starters alongside James and Antetokounmpo in the East.

In the Western Conference, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant of the Warriors, as well as New Orleans' Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins join Houston's James Harden as starters.

The 2018 All-Star game will feature a new format. Instead of a matchup between the two conferences, two captains -- James and Curry -- will select their teams Jan. 25 after the reserves are announced Jan. 23.

The All-Star weekend tips off Feb. 16 in Los Angeles with a celebrity game at the Staples Center.
