Brewers' Shaw back from paternity leave, Garza heads to DL

One of the Milwaukee Brewers' best bats is back in the lineup.

Third baseman Travis Shaw was reinstated from the paternity list Wednesday after the first two games of the Brewers' home series against the San Francisco Giants.

The Brewers sent starting pitcher Matt Garza to the 10-day disabled list with a chest contusion (retroactive to Sunday, June 4) in order to make room for Shaw.

Garza suffered the injury Tuesday, throwing just 25 pitches before exiting with upper-body soreness after colliding with teammate Jesus Aguilar, and was scheduled to start Wednesday.

The veteran is 2-2 with a 3.83 ERA through eight starts this season.

Shaw has been one of the Brewers' most effective hitters this year, and has a .292/.339/.530 slash line with 10 home runs since joining Milwaukee via an offseason trade with the Boston Red Sox.
