Marquette’s Carlino, Wilson earn All-Big East honors

The Big East Conference announced its all-conference teams Sunday, with Marquette senior Matt Carlino and redshirt freshman Duane Wilson among the honorees.

Carlino was named to the All-Big East Second Team, while Wilson earned a spot on the six-man Big East All-Rookie Team.

In his lone season at Marquette after transferring from BYU as a graduate student, Carlino averaged 14.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 41.6 percent from beyond the arc.

He averaged 17.2 points per game and hit 40.0 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc in Big East play. Carlino played in just 14 of Marquette’s 18 conference games due to a concussion suffered in early February.

Wilson appeared in all 30 games for Marquette, averaging 12.1 points and 2.2 assists per game. The Dominican High School (Wis.) product scored 12.3 points per game during conference play, including 26-point nights against Georgetown and Creighton.

The Big East Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year will be named Wednesday.
