JENNY TAFT: The herding group is the fourth group to take the stage Monday night at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show presented by Purina Pro Plan. The herding group is known for their ability to control the movement of other animals. Notable members include the Australian Shepherd, Border Collie, German Shepherd Dog, Polish Lowland Sheepdog, and Pembroke Welsh Corgi. The German shepherd dog has won the herding group the most with 10 group wins, most recently in 2017.

The herding group is the newest AKC classification, having joined in 1983. Since then only two best in show winners have come from the herding group, and both were German Shepherds.
