UCLA to honor broadcaster Dick Enberg on Feb. 9

Dick Enberg called eight of UCLA's 11 basketball national championships during his tenure (1966-77) in Westwood.

And, on Feb. 9 vs. Oregon, the Bruins will honor the broadcasting legend.

Enberg, one of only two broadcasters (Curt Gowdy) in the Baseball, Basketball and Football Hall of Fames, also called Angels games from 1969-75 with a brief return in 1985 ... and a cameo in 'The Naked Gun'.

"That job was absolutely responsible for NBC hiring me," Enberg told Larry Stewart of the Los Angeles Times for a 2007 column. "The people at NBC were aware that I was an announcer for the Angels and Rams, but it was UCLA that got me the job."
