Turkoglu expected to join Clippers on Grammy trip

Hedo Turkoglu averaged 11.9 points and 3.1 assists over his 13-year NBA career.

LOS ANGELES — Nothing is official, but Clippers coach Doc Rivers said Wednesday he expects forward Hedo Turkoglu to be with the team for the start of its seven-game, 11-day road trip on Friday.

"We do anticipate signing him, at least we hope," Rivers said before the Clippers played the Dallas Mavericks at Staples Center. "Nothing’s official until it’s official, as you know."

"I usually don’t say stuff, but everyone pretty much knows. But it’s not done."

Hedo Turkoglu works out with Clippers.

Rivers has indicated an interest in Turkoglu for a while. The 6-foot-10 player was waived Jan. 3 by the Orlando Magic without playing a game. Last season, he served a 20-game suspension for using performance-enhancing drugs.

Rivers said he would address Turkoglu’s past issues once he’s signed.

"You always address it when you bring guys in," he said. "You talk to them about anything that’s happened in his past. Not only just that, but he was in Orlando and didn’t play. Every guy we bring in. That’s nothing new."
