Tigers were nearly Halladay’s first no-no victim

It’s the year the of the no-hitter in Major League Baseball, with the Philadelphia Phillies’ Roy Halladay as the league’s poster pitcher.

Wednesday night, he threw the second no-hitter in postseason history, leading the Phillies past the Cincinnati Reds, 4-0, in Game 1 of the NLDS. (Don Larsen’s perfect game in the 1956 World Series was the first postseason no-no.)

On May 29, 2010, Halladay pitched the 20th perfect game in MLB history, beating the Florida Marlins, 1
