Snoop Dogg/Lion donates cleats to Long Beach Poly

The Long Beach Poly football team was among the first to get a pair of the adizero 5-star Snoop Lion edition cleat.

Mike Trout isn’t the only local to have a fancy cleat released with his name on it.

Last week adidas released cleats inspired by rapper-actor Snoop Dogg — the adizero 5-star Snoop Lion edition cleat.

It’s the first collaboration between adidas and an entertainer.

The cleats are white with the head of a roaring lion that stretches from the middle of the shoe to the back.

The cleats were released exclusively in Los Angeles last Friday and the Long Beach Poly football team, led by new head coach Antonio Pierce, was among the first to score the kicks.

Snoop, a Long Beach Poly alum, donated a pair a cleats to each member of the varsity football team.

The team boarded a bus to Los Angeles with the thought that they were going to be taking a look at some of the adidas gear they’ll have for next season, but were surprised to see Snoop and receive a pair of his cleats. Each member of the team, including coaches and staff members, posed for pictures with the rapper and entertainer.

The Jackrabbits are believed to be the only high school program in the country to have a pair.

Before the shoes were officially released to the public, Snoop and adidas donated the shoes to the Texas A&M football program.

According to adidas, the cleats are "the lightest in the game," weighing 6.7 ounces and have Snoop’s personal touch.

"The cleats are not only made for top performance, but specially designed by me — so get ready to be suited and booted, dipped and whipped like me," Snoop said in a release.
