LAFC opens $30 million training facility

LA sports just got even bigger.

LAFC opened up its doors to a new 30,000 sq. foot, $30 million training facility on the campus of Cal State LA on Wednesday.

The performance center will be used for player training, medical facilities and coaches offices. It also features a 95,500 sq. ft. soccer pitch made of the same Bermuda hybrid grass installed at the new Banc of California Stadium.

With its location on the heart of Cal State LA's campus, LAFC has committed over $1.6 million to the university to be used in renovating several sports facilities and assisting in creating a new hands-on master's program that will allow students to work directly with the team.

“Building this Performance Facility is not only an important step in the development of our players and coaches, but it is a true symbol of our commitment to the City of Los Angeles,” said LAFC Club President and Owner Tom Penn.

Coming off a heart-breaking first loss of the season to the Galaxy, LAFC (2-1) has three more road games before it is scheduled to debut its new Banc of California Stadium April 29 vs. the Seattle Sounders.
