Kings goalie Peter Budaj named 'Third Star' of Week ending Feb. 5

The LA Kings got some pleasant news to start off a new week on Monday.

Goalie Peter Budaj was named the 'Third Star' of the Week ending Feb. 5.

Budaj tallied a 3-1 record with a 1.62 goals-against average, .930 save percentage and two shutouts as the Kings moved to 27-22-4 on the season.

The other two 'Stars' of the week were Carolina right wing Sebastian Aho and Minnesota center Mikael Granlund.

Budaj, a 34-year-old native of Slovakia, has compiled a 25-15-3 record (NHL-leading seven shutouts) during the 2016-17 campaign while filling in for the injured Jonathan Quick.

Los Angeles also holds the first Wild Card spot in the Western Conference, according to the NHL release.

The Kings return to the ice on Tuesday, starting at 4p, on FOX Sports West & FOX Sports GO
