Flashback: When Mater Dei beat St. John Bosco 26-21 on Oct. 21
The CIF-SS football season is nearing its end on FOX Sports West & Prep Zone.
But, not until we air 12 fantastic division finals, starting on Friday at 7p.
And, on Saturday at 7:30p (on FSW and FOX Sports GO) to finish off our year, we have the heavyweight battle of the season … the rematch between Mater Dei and St. John Bosco.
Before the teams do battle at Angel Stadium, a quick look back at their earlier season meeting on Oct. 21, in which, the Monarchs came out on top 26-21.
First, if you desire, the entire game can be re-watched here.
Mater Dei, which hadn’t beaten St. John Bosco since 2010, trailed early thanks to touchdown runs like this from Braves quarterback Re-al Mitchell.
But Mater Dei got its mojo back thanks to a spectacular punt return for TD by Amon-Ra St. Brown.
When it was over, the Monarchs emerged with the victory, which ended Bosco’s 23-game Trinity League winning streak.
"Our defensive and offensive lines won the game for us," Mater Dei Coach Bruce Rollinson told the LA Times.
If their first matchup was any indication of what awaits on Saturday … hold onto your hats folks!
