Clippers begin the season with a tough stretch of opponents
Of the first 14 teams the Clippers will face this season, 12 of them were in the playoffs last year and are poised to contend again this season. There is no lack of action in the team's first month, and that will likely lead to early indications of the team's prospects.
Denver Nuggets (10/17)
The Nuggets have continuously improved over the last four years, while the Clippers snapped their six-year playoff streak last year. With these opposing trends, and the debut of the new-look Clips, this game is sure to be entertaining. Plus, nothing like basketball being back, right?!

An early matchup against a top team will force the Clippers to develop early. With Russell Westbrook's status unknown as he continues to recover from arthroscopic knee surgery over the offseason, the Clips may be facing an OKC team needing to spread the wealth on offense, proving a true test of just how good the Clippers' defense can be all season, assuming they stay healthy.

Houston Rockets (10/21)
A star-studded Houston team may cause some matchup problems for the Clippers, but, again, it will test the Clips' strong defense and force them to get something going on offense. This could be the game where the new offensive star starts to show his colors.

Philadelphia 76ers (11/1)
After getting some practice against tough competition in October, the Clippers should be able to make the adjustments and improve against another difficult opponent during their east coast road trip. With the emergence of Ben Simmons as a top guard in the league and Markelle Fultz's hopeful return to his projected form, this will give the Clippers own young guns in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jerome Robinson a good litmus test.
Golden State Warriors (11/12)
The toughest possible matchup comes less than a month into the season and it should give some context on the Clippers' outlook moving forward. Even their communication and leadership in this game could be relevant, as it could give a player the platform to become the voice of the team.
