Colin Cowherd predicted Baker Mayfield would win the Heisman Trophy — then the National Championship
Colin Cowherd previews the CFB playoff, declaring that not only will the Oklahoma Sooners beat the Alabama Crimson Tide to win the National Championship, but Baker Mayfield will hoist the Heisman Trophy.
- I'm going to tell you what's going to happen. I'm going to make a prediction right now. And you can just put it down.
Oklahoma faces Georgia in one of those two playoff games, and Bama faces Clemson. I'm going to lay it out there for you right now.
Oklahoma is going to beat Georgia. And they're going to beat them by more than a touchdown. They have the offensive line to keep Georgia's pass rush away. And a freshman quarterback's not beating Baker Mayfield. Oklahoma is going to beat Georgia.
I think Georgia is the third best SEC team. I think Bama, Auburn-- even though Auburn beat Bama at home-- Bama, Auburn, Georgia.
The second thing is Bama is going to beat Clemson. It's going to be close. It's going to be real physical, but Alabama's incredibly well-rested. It's like-- it's like they got extra time. Bama is going to beat Clemson.
And then Oklahoma, they match up with Alabama's front seven. Oklahoma is going to beat Bama for the national title.
And so what's going to happen here is Baker Mayfield over the next month is going to win the Heisman. And he's going to win the National Championship. And people are going to go bonkers for Baker Mayfield. And I just want to put it on record.
He's not Rosen. He's not Darnold. He's not.
I don't care about anything other than qualities. Body type, he's 5' 11". 40-yard dash, he runs a 4.8.
I've heard people compare him to Russell Wilson. Russell Wilson is a great American athlete. Mayfield is a good one, and he's tiny with a police video.
Do not compare him to Deshaun Watson. Do you understand how good of an athlete Deshaun Watson is? Because Mayfield is going to beat Clem-- he's going to beat Alabama. So Baker Mayfield's going to beat Alabama, and everyone's going to go, he's Deshaun Watson. Deshaun Watson beat Alabama.
Do you understand how great of an athlete-- let me put it in context for you-- how great of an athlete Deshaun Watson is? The state of Georgia, there's five states in the country, five states in the country that produce massive high school football talent. Number one is-- and I don't know the order, but these are the five-- Florida, Texas, California-- and I'll even make it four-- Georgia. Those are the big four.
Georgia produces almost as much high school football talent as California. Georgia has 9 million people in it. California has 38 million people. Georgia produces almost as much high school football talent and athletic talent as California.
Now, think about this. Do you know who won the Georgia High Jump Championship several years ago as an eighth grader? Deshaun Watson, as an eighth grader in the state of Georgia. All those athletes. As an eighth grader.
Russell Wilson is a great American athlete. Deshaun Watson is a remarkable American athlete. This guy is a better version of Johnny Manziel.
Baker Mayfield's a 4.8 40. He may be the nicest kid in the world, but man, what's going to happen is he's going to win the Heisman. And he's going to win the National Championship. And he's going to beat Alabama to do it. And people are going to lose their minds.
