Brock McGinn scored two goals and Cam Ward made 29 saves to lead the Carolina Hurricanes over the visiting Colorado Avalanche, 3-1. Tyson Barrie scored at 16:51 of the first period to give Colorado a 1-0 lead. But McGinn would tally his first of the night just 18 seconds later to tie the game, 1-1. McGinn would score just 35 seconds into the third for the game winning goal, while Jeff Skinner would add an insurance marker at 13:17.
