A bantamweight matchup between two grizzled veterans at similar points in their careers has been scheduled for UFC Sacramento on December 17th.
In an announcement from the UFC’s website Takeya Mizugaki (21-10-2 MMA, 8-5 UFC) will face off against former Interim Bantamweight title challenger Eddie Wineland (22-11-1 MMA, 4-5 UFC) at UFC Sacramento on December 17. The two are currently struggling in their recent outings. Both will look to get back on the right track with a victory.
Wineland’s last time out however, was a successful one, defeating Frankie Saenz via third round TKO. Even with the win, Wineland is 2-3 in last five outings. Dropping fights against Renan Barao, Johnny Eduardo, and Bryan Caraway during that stretch.

As for Mizugaki, he is also 2-3 in his last 5. He has been considered a stepping stone by many recently. The Japanese bantamweight’s last outings consist of losing to Dominick Cruz in his return fight in a minute, being submitted by a highly touted Aljamain Sterling, and most recently being TKOd by current title challenger Cody Garbrandt in 48 seconds. His two victories in that span came against Francisco Rivera and George Roop, defeating both by decision.
The card is headlined by strawweight prospects Paige VanZant and Michelle Waterson. In addition, the card will feature the retirement fight of Urijah Faber when he fights Brad Pickett.
