In wake of possible Aldo injury, Dana White channels inner Aaron Rodgers

When news broke earlier today that UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo could miss UFC 189 due to a rib injury, most of the MMA world froze, waiting for confirmation from the UFC or Aldo’s camp.

And while that confirmation has yet to come, it hasn’t stopped many from speculating whether the fight will be moved to a different date, or whether Conor McGregor will be given a new opponent or pulled from the July 11 card entirely.

Almost instantly, the Twitter mentions for featherweights Frankie Edgar and Chad Mendes blew up with fans and fighters clamoring for either top contender to get a shot at the Irishman. Top 5 featherweights Dennis Bermudez and Urijah Faber also made it clear they’d step in if needed.

If it makes dollars it makes sense. Put me in coach! @danawhiteufc

While everyone waits to see how the situation plays out, UFC president Dana White channeled his inner Aaron Rodgers in a tweet shortly after the news broke:

If the White and the UFC can relax after spending copious amounts of money on promotion for the fight, I guess we can, too. I guess.
